Kaminia

Take a scenic walk from the town to Kaminia, overlooking the sea. In thispicturesque little harbor, you’ll find the “Red House,” an important site on the island. Built in 1786, it was the residence of Admiral Miaoulis and now serves as an exhibition space.

The Mansions

Hydra boasts several magnificent mansions that bear architectural elements influenced by the Genoese style. These grand four-story buildings are closely linked to the island’s glorious history and were constructed during the late 18th and early 19th centuries when Hydra experienced economic prosperity due to trade and shipping. Visit the Mansion of Lazarus
Tsamados on the east side of the harbor, currently housing the Merchant Marine Academy. On the west side, overlooking the waterfront, you’ll find the historic Mansion of Lazarus Kountouriotis, which now operates as an annex of the National Historical Museum.

MONEMVASIA

The CASTLE Town of Monemvasia is among the most IMPRESSIVE places in Greece. Monemvasia was entirely carved on the back side of a GIANT SEA ROCK in the Medieval times in order for the LOCALS to avoid enemy attacks.
This fortified city with the one and only gate as its name suggests (Moni=sole,Emvasia=entrance) has been inhabited continuously since the Middle Ages. The church of Agia Sofia is one of the most beautiful worship spots in Greece.

POLYAIGOS

Polýaigos is an uninhabited Greek island in the CYCLADES near Milos and Kimolos. It is part of the community of KIMOLOS. Its name means «many goats», since it is inhabited
only by goats.
The island is to a great extent privately owned by the Greek Orthodox church,which sublets parts of it to local herdsmen from the nearby islands of Milos and Kimolos.
